Cure for Fuel Starvation

Some engine-quitting problems can be traced to the brass-tube tank vent, which closes when it touches the top of the tank (see arrow) and causes fuel starvation. To prevent this, file a notch in the end of the tube. Now, even if it does touch the top of the tank, the notches will still admit air and allow the tank to feed fuel.
