Canopy Painting Whenever I don’t want to deal with pilots and cockpits, I just spray-paint the clear canopies. Popular colors seem to be black, gray, silver and light blue. Trim and fit your canopy to your plane. Tape it on and drill holes for the mounting screws. Remove it and mask off the outside of the canopy starting with the perimeter.
