No-Drill Screw Holes

When it comes to installing screws in medium to soft wood, you don't really have to drill a pilot hole. Pierce the surface of the wood with a fine-tipped awl and then thread the screw into the hole without fear of splitting. This works well with light-ply and thin plywood sheets as well as for servo attachment screws in lightweight foam park flyers.
