Jouster Steve Betts, Jacksonville, Florida Built from AMA plans, this high-performance sailplane has a 122-inch wingspan with an SD7032 airfoil modified at the tips. Steve hot-wired the three-piece wing at home and vacuum-bagged it with West Systems epoxy and 1/16 balsa. The center section has a built-up spar from plywood and carbon fiber to handle zoom winch launches. Steve says the 65-ounce model flies great and thermals really well.
