Russia’s Electric-Powered Distributed Propulsion Demonstrator

Aviation Week Magazine reported that Russian researchers have flight-tested the SibNIA TVS-2MS, a short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) biplane that uses distributed electric propulsion on its lower wing. The aircraft will carry a payload of up to 1,000 kg for thousands of kilometers, and will be able to take off and land on unprepared sites measuring 50 X 50 m (165 X 165 ft.
