Sleek Tail Skid

Bend the end of a piece of wire to form a U, then glue a shaped piece of wood into it to make a skid, as shown. Sandwich the skid between two halves of a dummy wooden wheel pant, then paint the protruding “wheel” black to make it look like a tire. Installed at the base of the rudder post, the skid closely resembles the tapered spring-rod tail wheel that’s used on many home-built aircraft....
