Stuck On You

Adhesive Velcro tape is often used to hold the battery in place on foam airplanes, but constantly pulling on it to remove and install the battery can weaken the foam. To remove the battery without damaging the foam, put a spot of silicone sealant on each of the four corners of the flat side of the battery. Place the battery flat-side down on a piece of wax paper, and cover it with a board and some weight. This flattens the spots to provide flat, foam-grabbing rubbery contacts at the corners of the battery. A Velcro strap is all you need to keep the battery firmly locked into place on the foam airplane.
