The Vought F4U Corsair – Iconic since 1942

Early Model Airplane News covers were often works of art. This November 1943 issue featured a Corsair painting by famed aviation illustrator Jo Kotula.
Instantly recognizable thanks to its bent-wing design, the Vought F4U Corsair has been a longtime modeler favorite. The U.S. Navy received its first production Corsair in July of 1942, and Model Airplane News put one on the cover not too long after in November of 1943.
