It’s a good idea to make cowls out of plastic, but the cracks that appear around the mounting screws are frustrating. To solve the problem, buy an eyelet kit and crimping punches from a hardware store, and firmly crimp eyelets into the mounting holes to reinforce them. A friendly shoe repairer may also sell the metal eyelets for a nominal sum; but you should drill the holes where your plane needs them! Adapted from 400...
