Cut thumbtacks short and resharpen as in (a), or stick them through a glued-on shim as in (b). In either case, the points should not go through the sheet wood that’s being cut. A bent pin that’s glued into the trailing edge of the rib template stops the back end from flexing out of line under the cutting pressure.
